SEFA WORKSHOP WITH CRISPIN WRIGHT

GENERAL INFO

The SIUCC (Seminario Interuniversitario de Ciencia Cognitiva) annual conferences are three-day workshops, intended to focus on the contributions of an influential philosopher, which have been organized by the Spanish Analytic Community for the past 20 years, under the auspices of the SEFA since the creation of the society in 1994. Invited speakers are asked to present three papers, which can be new material or a revision of former work.

Invited Speaker

Crispin Wright (M.A., Ph.D., Cambridge; B.Phil., D.Litt., Oxford)

Director of the Northern Institute of Philosophy at the University of Aberdeen and Professor at NYU. He is a Fellow of the British Academy and of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. He has taught at Columbia, Michigan, Princeton and St. Andrews, where he was the first Wardlaw University Professor and founded the research centre, Arché. His work, which specializes in the philosophies of language and mathematics, metaphysics and epistemology includes the books Wittgenstein on the Foundations of Mathematics (Harvard 1980); Frege's Conception of Numbers as Objects (Aberdeen University Press 1983); Truth and Objectivity (Harvard 1992); Realism Meaning and Truth (2nd. edition Blackwell 1993); The Reason's Proper Study (with Bob Hale, Oxford 2001), Rails to Infinity (Harvard 2001), and Saving the Differences (Harvard 2003). Two further collections of his papers, The Riddle of Vagueness and Imploding the Demon, are currently in preparation for publication by Oxford University Press.
